Jeff Merkley on the Future of the Oregon Legislature

Just thought I would share a quote from Minority Leader Jeff Merkley who could soon be Speaker of the Oregon House.

Last night at the Benson Hotel Jeff said:
"This is an opportunity for us to present a wonderful agenda on healthcare, on prescription drugs, a full school year for children, biofuels, and a real conversation about civil rights and civil unions."

This is quite a welcomed change that we have become used to from the outgoing Speaker Minnis. Here's to the 2007 legislative session!

Much better!! Is any new legislation written and ready to pass through the Senate and House in the 2007 sesh? Descrimination protections for housing and employment? Civil Unions or at least a state recognized Domestic Partnership?
