Will BRO be publishing a document outlining the benefits offered to Domestic Partners when the HB2007 is signed in the future?

I think it would be a great way for people who want to file for Domestic Partnership to know what benefits are and are not covered.

What will the effective date be after Gov. Kulongoski signs SB2?

Since the bills do not have an "effective date" written in them according to Oregon Law they will not take effect until the first of January following their passage. So you can expect to see me and my partner in line at the County Recorders office on 1/1/08 (unless they're closed for the Holiday!).

P.S. I don't work for BRO but I figured since I knew this I would help Bryan out so he can concentrate on his live blog

Again, we very much appreciate the live blogs. Thank you Bryan!!

I saw a local TV report the other day that said the domestic partnership law would take effect three months after the governor signed it. Is that incorrect?

There have been a lot of questions about when these two bills, once law would go into effect. Please go to www.basicrights.org and sign up for our e-newsletter (on the left hand side of the home page). We will be sending out a newsletter today (Thursday) explaining what's next.

Thanks to everyone!
